Resolution Reboot

Hope you enjoyed the Part I of the series ‘What’s Next for HR in 2013’. Now pull out a chair to read Part II, this time from Christopher de Mers and get your day rocking by rebooting your resolutions! How about that! And here we go… 

It’s that time of year again when refreshed by a few days off, a bounty of bowl games, holiday spirit(s) and a little reflection you resolve to change things about yourself both professionally and personally. Congratulations!

You’re going to put in a few more hours at the office (yet spend more time at home), brush up on your technical skills and network more intently. And don’t forget eating right, exercising more and this year finally getting eight hours of sleep a night.

What makes me excited to work in HR is that the field is always changing. And I love to juggle with changes, deal with it and learn from it.

We all have seen when HR was once considered as just an administrative job but now the business has recognized it to be both operational and strategic. Then we got a seat at the table! If your cell phone rings during a job interview you are going to make your interviewer angry! But what if your mobile phone has it’s ring tone set to the sound of your dogs barking and were to ring during the interview. It can be nerve wrecking and you might even regret keeping that ring tone of your lovely dog barking! Right? But it might give the interviewer a glimpse into your personality. (more…)

Fear kills your creativity!

Hope you all had a blast this past holiday weekend! I had an awesome time with all sorts of fun activities with bowling, karaoke party, a crazy drive to the Natural Bridge at Virginia and the most amazing part of all was the time spent painting with my 4 year old naughty niece that had added more colors to my Thanksgiving celebrations! And this is one of her creations- and I call it ‘The beauty of little mind’. (more…)

Why you should Network?

I don’t like to write sitting at my home for some reason that I even don’t know why! But one thing I know for sure is I want to be at a place where there are people around me and I love observing people. That is again one of my favorite things to do to pass time other than when I am not painting. So most of my evenings I drive to nearby Starbucks where I enjoy writing my blog posts and observing people too. (more…)
