Don’t let your emotions decide where you live and work

‘Don’t let your emotions have the final say’, one of my friends, William Tincup, told this to me when Nishant and I were searching for a new home to buy.

We were kind of pondering about all the awesomeness of every single house that we stepped in – the wooden floors that shine like glass, the spacious kitchen with top brand appliances and the interior extravaganzas that were decorated in a way to manipulate our eyes and overlook important flaws if any.

Well, the same can happen while deciding on your next company to work for. The fame of the company, a high salary and attractive perks can positively influence you. And you might end up making a wrong choice. But what really matters is, do you see yourself continuing there for a longer period, can you be yourself and use your skills and help you grow as a professional. How I made myself resourceful during my career crisis

Well, what you do when you don’t know the meaning of a word! You would google it, won’t you?

What if you don’t know how to solve a problem in your life…Yeah, you might still google it to know if somebody faced that same situation before and if so how did they handle it!

And that’s what I did when I moved to United States and encountered with the situation of not being able to work here due to immigration laws and regulations. In fact I am writing this post for those who are in same situation as me and a few wanted to hear from me on what to do to get your career continuing. It was such a frustration to find myself in an unemployed situation. Well, most of  the frustration wasn’t the unemployment but the feeling that I was left with no option. Didn’t know what to do and where to get help. It wasn’t easy for me and was so hard to process. I wrote about me freaking out about it 2 years ago here. (more…)

I hope you all agree that Facebook is fun and I know, even if you are not an active user you can’t resist yourself from checking Facebook to see your friends updates and shared photos!

Most of you are connected with your coworkers, managers and even their network connections! So why don’t we utilize those connections to search for jobs! There may be employers, recruiters and probably someone who knows of a job opening or is planning to add one more member to their team!
