Blogging with a Purpose

Two years ago, HR blogging, broadcasting DiveThruHR Podcasts and India HR LIVE talk shows had been my full-time job. No, It wasn’t a paying gig!  But I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from that experience, which helped me get ahead in my career in many ways:

  • I was able to express my thoughts and suggestions and connect with like-minded people
  • I was able to promote my work and establish my personal brand
  • I was able to help people through various issues in HR, Recruiting, Social Engagement etc.
  • Most of all, I was having fun, staying current and knowledgeable in the HR and Recruiting Space.

But then later,  when I transitioned to Corporate America, I had to take a break from blogging to focus on my brand new career as a Talent Acquisition Specialist at the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke – the American Heart Association (AHA). I must say, I love my time at the AHA and I am contributing to AHA’s mission of saving lives and also helping the organization find & attract the right talent who believe in this mission. And on top of it, I get to build #TheAHALife Employer Branding presence for the AHA, a career path that I would like to transition to next. An Impactful career is why I work at the American Heart Association!

I had to take a break from blogging!

I have been getting those anniversary messages from my LinkedIn network for my 6 years of blogging. And it hit me real hard that there are people out to there who valued my opinion and are still eagerly waiting to hear from me.

Some of you have been sending emails and messages asking where am I, when do I start to write again and why am I not in the blogosphere anymore. Here is why!

My focus is on my job and so I took a break from blogging intentionally. And on top of it, I had to go through an uncertain and stressful situation – a medical process that kept me away from work & what I had planned to do. During the recovery process, I was juggling life and work and thought blogging can wait. So that was it.

What to expect next?

You all know, blogging is what kept the connection going between you and me. And whatever I am now,  is because of my blog and my social media presence. So I wanted to come back to the blogosphere eagerly. But I guess, I was waiting for the perfect time, waiting for everything to become normal so I can put my full self to it.

Then I realized, the more I wait for the perfect situation to come, the longer it takes for me to get back to my blog. So I decided I’d rather roll with it than waiting for everything to be so perfect in life.

Sometimes all you need to do is to just do. Don’t over think it. It’s like waiting for the perfect weather outside to go out for a walk but ending up sitting at home. Just put on your walking shoes, get out of the house and go walking… If it rains just enjoy 🙂

Thank you, everyone, for all the support and encouragement. And stay tuned! I will be sharing more on what’s current in the world of Talent!

Thanks,

Nisha.
