Are we, HR, perceived as we deserve to be? Oh Yeah, you heard me, I am sure you might have…
As much as I love writing about my HR experience I also love going through HR blogs I follow to help me learn from experts and mostly to know what’s on top of their mind every day.
I am amazed to see these story tellers presenting their own perspective and the experiences that they share are deliciously unique. And that’s what makes us different. And every day I am getting more motivated and inspired by these thought leaders through their writings. (more…)
The dreadful year end annual performance review is over and aren’t you glad it is done. You are probably thinking that it could have been done in a more strategic way so that it doesn’t feel like a yearly assault on employees and a tiresome tasks for managers.
And when you look at the Return on Investment (ROI), out of the time and effort that you spent to completing the process, both managers and employees would agree that it ended up with no value! And you are wondering what changes could make this dreadful and tiresome process into something valuable and welcomed by all. (more…)

I’ve always been quite fascinated reading about the homesteading lifestyle; the way of living favored by people who aim for total (or near total) self-sufficiency where they do stuff like raise their own livestock, grow and preserve their food and make textiles, soap and candles. Some are hard-core survivalist types living on compounds (“the end of the world is coming!”) there’s a sub group of Christian homesteaders, and others are crunchy-granola types. (more…)

It’s that time of year again when refreshed by a few days off, a bounty of bowl games, holiday spirit(s) and a little reflection you resolve to change things about yourself both professionally and personally. Congratulations!
You’re going to put in a few more hours at the office (yet spend more time at home), brush up on your technical skills and network more intently. And don’t forget eating right, exercising more and this year finally getting eight hours of sleep a night.
Good luck with that. (more…)

Happy New Year!
Fresh starts are so exciting. It’s as if we can reboot our lives and clean out all of the junk that gets in our way. We convince ourselves that now that a page has turned from December to January we have the power to change everything in our lives. Work will be organized, caught up, and progressive. Personal goals will be attained through a renewed sense of enthusiasm and commitment. We will find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow…. (more…)
What makes me excited to work in HR is that the field is always changing. And I love to juggle with changes, deal with it and learn from it.
We all have seen when HR was once considered as just an administrative job but now the business has recognized it to be both operational and strategic. Then we got a seat at the table! As we all agree there is a brighter side to us more than just making policies, implementing it or being HR policeman! (more…)

It’s the year end time and most of you might be preparing for your performance appraisal and some of you might have already finished it at this time. Getting your self appraisal done and finishing your team members appraisal. Busy times.
Well, how did it go? After all, the year long effort has been validated and summarized in 15 minutes of discussion! And if you think it is just a matter of entering some feedback in the system then that is why your Performance Management sucks and your employees don’t give a damn about it especially if your feedback doesn’t make any sense! And it won’t boost productivity at any cost. (more…)
